It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Orville P. Schinkowski.

Orville 'Chink" Schinkowski 40 year member of the Frankfort volunteer Fire department retiring as Assistant Fire Chief.

Orville was in charge of vehicles along with facilities.

Orville was a veteran of WWII, Past Grand-Marshal of the Annual Fall Festival parade, member of the Frankfort VFW & the New Lenox American Legion.

Orville while retired never missed FD meetings or gatherings, carrying on  a tradition of volunteerism for his community.

The men and women of the department thank Orville for his dedication and example of giving back to the community.


Orville P. Schinkowski Age 85, of Frankfort, passed away Sunday, May 11th, 2008 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home in Joliet.

Orville was a mechanic for Lincoln Way High School retiring in 1988, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII, a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the New Lenox American Legion, the Frankfort VFW, a volunteer for the Frankfort Fire Department for 40 years, Past Grand Marshall for the Frankfort Fall Festival Parade.

Orville is survived by his loving family; wife Gladys (nee Seemann) Schinkowski; son Frederick (Amadee) Schinkowski; daughter, Rita Ann (Terry) Larson; four grandchildren, Todd Larson, Beth Schinkowski, Andrew Schinkowski and Erin (Mike) Pine; two great-grandchildren, Meagan and Krystal Larson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Amanda Schinkowski; and a foster brother, Harry (late Kathryn) Miller.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 from 2-9 pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way Frankfort IL 60423. Funeral Service Thursday, May 15th, 2008 at 11:00am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church lying in state from 10:00am until time of service. Interment will follow at Skyline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 295 Sauk Trail Frankfort IL 60423 would be appreciated. Orville's family would like to thank the Joliet Area Community Hospice. KURTZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL
