“Campers at the Fire House”
Future firefighters are
invited to attend the Frankfort Fire District’s annual Junior Firefighter Camp.
This is the sixth year the Fire District has offered the camp for kids 6-12
during the summer. For the kids, the camp offers a glimpse of what it is like
being a firefighter.
Under the watchful eye of
fire fighter/counselors, the campers learned the basics of fire safety, such as
Stop Drop and Roll, Stay Low and Go, and learned to detect fire hazards in the
home. The campers tour the Fire District
museum and will see the fire trucks from the past. They will see firefighter
clothes, the on duty Firefighters will show the campers the tools they work with and they work and get to help the
firefighters roll firefighting hose. The
campers will learn how to get out of a smoke filled room in the “Kids Safety
Trailer”.
