Junk Vehicles

Got an unfixable clunker sitting in your driveway that you need to get rid of?  Don’t pay a towing company to get rid of it; the Frankfort Fire Protection District has the answer for you!  The Department’s Training Division is always seeking broken-down vehicles for donation.

The vehicles are used for hands-on, real-world training to rescue people trapped in car accidents.  They practice using their “jaws of life” and other rescue tools.  The paramedics also practice how to remove victims properly and safely from the vehicle with their cervical collars and backboards to prevent further neck and back injuries.

Also, the Frankfort fire investigators will use the vehicles to help determine the causes of vehicle fires.

Vehicles can be donated in any condition, whether they run or not.  Vehicles can either be dropped off at the fire department, or we can arrange to have it towed from your driveway at no cost to you.

Most importantly, you will receive a donation letter, making your vehicle donation tax-deductible!  All that is required is that you have a valid title for the vehicle.

Pallets

The Frankfort Fire Protection District’s Training Division is always in need of pallets for real-world training exercises.

NFPA 1403 outlines the minimum requirements for conducting live-fire training in fixed facilities and acquired structures. A key requirement is that only wood-based products with known or well-characterized burning behavior should be used in the training fuel package.

If you have accumulated extra wooden pallets on your property, the Frankfort Fire Protection District can get rid of the pallets for you.  Your donations of pallets are welcomed.

Pallets can be dropped off at the fire district, or we can arrange to have the pallets picked up at no cost to you.

For Information on vehicle or pallet donation, please call Assistant Chief Kevin Brow at 815-469-1700. Ext 7128.
