The Fire Prevention Bureau 

The Frankfort Fire Protection District's Fire Prevention Bureau, commonly referred to as the Fire Marshal's Office, provides leadership and inspection services to help prevent fires and assure fire and life safety for people who live, work, and travel through the District.

Plan Reviews

All plan reviews for the Frankfort Fire Protection District shall be either mailed or delivered in person to the Fire Prevention Bureau located at 333 W. Nebraska Street, Frankfort, IL 60423. Submittals must include all required documentation and clearly indicate the project address and scope of work. Electronic submissions can be sent to FirePrevention@frankfortfire.org 

Incomplete submittals may result in delays or rejection of the review process.

Upon receipt, the Fire Prevention Bureau will conduct a comprehensive review of the submitted plans to ensure compliance with applicable fire and life safety codes. If the plans meet all requirements and are approved, a permit will be issued to authorize the work. Plan review fees are outlined in Appendix O of Ordinance No. 245 and must be paid in full prior to the issuance of the permit. Please consult the ordinance for the current fee schedule and additional details regarding the permit process.

Please note that contractors shall be licensed by the Village of Frankfort and be certified to the appropriate NICET level. Fire sprinkler contractors shall also hold a valid license from the State of Illinois.  Electricians must also have an Illinois State Electrical License.
